Our little Central Vermont squad kicked off the 2024 Season, “Crescendo,” with several new youth members. Today, our team has close to 20 members from 10 towns and 5 different regional schools (The Sharon Academy, Woodstock, Randolph, White River Valley, and Thetford).  

 

Our team is gender inclusive with around 50% of the team identifying as nonbinary or female. Archytas is a student-driven team, with youth members in charge of game strategy, design decisions, programming, and implementation. In all stages of building our robot, Archytas teammates strive to respect all voices while supporting the values and objectives of FIRST.

Since our rookie season in 2018, we have been a highly successful team, Being consistent in winning numerous awards and qualifying for the FIRST Worlds Championship twice, including in our rookie year, but we measure our success in broader terms than our accomplishments in the arena. We are most proud of our Gracious Professionalism award earned in the 2023 Season, as we believe that strong teamwork and a supportive learning environment are our community's greatest strengths.

In 2023, our team discussed, designed, and finalized a brand-new logo. The pigeon is a tribute to the Greek inventor, Archytas, who created the first steam-powered robot, which was a pigeon. The logo originated from a design done by one of our youth members. We chose green for our new color because it represents growth, renewability, and the Green Mountain State (Vermont). At the time of the redesign, all participating youth members attended schools that used Green as their primary color, so it was also chosen as a symbol of our community unity.
